Argos Wityu - (senior) investment manager


Are you a driven PE investor with an entrepreneurial mindset who is passionate about transforming and growing companies to their fullest potential? My client is a pan-European (multi office) Private Equity investor looking for an investment manager (mid-level/senior) to join the Amsterdam office.

Short Description
After having acquire 3 platforms in the Netherlands since 2017, Argos Wityu opened an office in Amsterdam in 2023 and is committed to expanding their coverage of the Benelux market.
They have already hired an analyst and an associate and are boosted by two partners (co- leading the activity in Benelux) that weekly comes (from Belgium) to the Netherlands to lead the team and the business. The hiring of a high performing investment manager is crucial to their plans to execute more high-quality deals in the Netherlands as well as to consolidate their positioning. For the Investment manager there is a clear career path to director and beyond.
The investment manager will report to the two partners and have a broad role with a mandate to (i) execute new deals, (ii) help manage the existing portfolio, (iii) develop the junior members and (iv) help strengthen the origination channels/reinforce the business visibility across The Netherlands. The investment manager will also get the opportunity to get exposure to the wider international organization and to participate in cross-border work streams.

They currently simultaneously invest from two funds with two different strategies:
Argos Wityu Mid-Market fund 8 (historical flagship fund €1.7b)
Argos Climate Action fund (final close in Q4 2024, €300m target, 2 investments done)

The investment manager will initially work on both funds. They are preparing the fund raising for Argos Wityu Mid-Market fund 9 for which a first close is expected in the coming months.

    Job Description
    In the role of investment manager your primary focus will be deal sourcing, evaluation, deal execution, adding value to portfolio and ultimately successful exits. In summary, but not limited to:

    //Deal sourcing and execution//
  • Strengthen already existing deal origination network.
  • Evaluation of investment opportunities (e.g., financial modelling, valuation, structuring, commercial due diligence). Splitting workstreams for the analysts and associates.
  • Deal execution, consisting of managing due diligence (commercial, operational, financial, legal and tax), arrangement of debt financing and documentation by managing or delegating and checking individual workflows.
  • Deal negotiations support (including SPA’s).

    //Portfolio management//
  • Initiate (together with management teams) value creation strategies and plans (e.g., team recruitment, ESG, strategy development, setting KPI’s, performance improvement, buy-and-build activities, improve financial reporting and management reporting).
  • Preparation and execution of refinancing.
  • Periodic portfolio performance reviews, valuations and return calculations.
  • Execute buy and build.

    //Other//
  • Leadership: Hiring, coaching, and developing of interns/starters/associates,
  • General marketing and operational activities.
  • The investment manager will have a lot of interaction with CEOs, CFOs, M&A and other advisors. Continued personal development in the direction of investment director.

    Requirements
  • Strong academic background: Masters in a numerical discipline (Business, Economics, Finance, Econometrics, Engineering, Natural Sciences, etc.). Strong grades will be a pre.
  • 5 to 8 years of work experience in private equity and M&A, strategy consulting or a corporate/business (M&A) development position in a mid-cap (preferably PE owned).
  • The candidate has an excellent track record as a top performer and received excellent.

  • The successful candidate will be able to execute M&A (buy and sell side) transactions whether it is financial modelling (including valuation), legal documentation or due diligence. They are also able to add value into the portfolio with (some) experience in strategy and planning.
  • Hands-on, proactive and entrepreneurial attitude; a natural ability to ‘connect’ with entrepreneurs and managers.
  • Clear potential to help maintain and further develop the commercial network in The Netherlands and help set-up (pro-active) deal sourcing processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; leadership competencies, a winner’s mentality with a positive and can-do attitude.
  • Dutch National with relevant working experience in The Netherlands.
  • Native / fluent in Dutch. Fluent in English.
